Today…I am floating
Just being.
swaying…
Sipping…
Drifting off under the coconuts
Catching up…
…Taken care of
…being celebrated.
And then...
The alarm goes off.
poof.

…It is back to the projects
not living in the projects so much…but working on projects.
The saga of the big butt chair continues
stage 1: complete….
today
I will carefully tear off all the pieces and use
them as patterns to cut
then staple back on in all of it’s IKAT and linen glory!
I think the chair tried to escape and run last night. really.
wish me luck.
Another find. 14 dollars at the local goodwill.
mid century credenza
I had been keeping my eyes out for a long low cabinet for the LR
to take the place of the piano ...which will be moved.
And this guy just jumped in the car.
it needs work….
and I am wondering about a laquer paint...
but can’t come up with a color
that floats my boat...yet.
Whad’ya think?
Keep playing the lottery
you say?
Yep.
Hear ya.

I would take my family on a photographic safari
to
Africa…Zambia to be exact...
Luangwa Safari House to be even more exact.
A private house
“Rather than stay at a lodge or tented camp, you can now bring your family or friends to Zambia and rent a spacious designer house fully staffed with house manager, private chef and waiters…”
yes please.
This beautiful abode has no straight walls…everything is undulating and curved…organic…built around giant
leadwood trees in the grand “great room”
In this double-height main room, hand-painted fabrics from a local factory pair with furniture and lamps made by local Lusaka craftsman.
The home is overlooking a seasonal watering hole for elephants…
better than TV…so say I
You can sit in the pool to watch them...
or off the eating pavillion that is set for each meal
look at those napkins!
Upstairs…
four unique and private rooms
…and bathrooms
wanna join us?
Visit the Luangwa House here
You know you want to.
A little birdy sent me this mock up for our bathroom…
Thank you Michelle from Just Imagine !
My husband
said husband that has a real fear of monkey’s…
could not tolerate.
He is sure a monkey is in there hiding…
somewhere.
maybe holding the toothpaste
or worse.
Me? I think it’s fun.
But….money may be better spent on therapy.
Monkey therapy.
Me thinks.
Thanks again Michelle and every one of ya’s that had an opinion
one way or the other…
smooch!

Given: We live in the tropics. Well subtropics. close.
Given: I have a ton of bananas which are looking sad. Well actually dead from our freeze
Given: I am ready for some color in our bathroom that has been void of color for a reason
Reason: Prior to re-doing it it was FULL of color
I liked the breathing space break.
old pic…but you get the drift.
So…with bananas on my mind…I keep coming back to this wallpaper
which I almost ordered 10 years ago for another tropical home.
It is a BIG pattern…an old Hollywood classic.
I’m wondering how it would do
wrapped up in my bath?
or am I just missing my ‘nanas?
…But first…
a word from our sponsor
that would be me
No…I didn’t do this, nor is it in our laundry room
But Ohhhh if it were.
I tackled what I thought would be an easy peasy spiff up to our laundryroom/back door.
I had the wood {ish} flooring waiting for awhile in the garage.
I used mexican tile on the counters. That was once many moons ago going to go in the kitchen.
I found a cabinet in the as is dept at IKEA for 50 clams
…and so I started…
and here is where I end up…
I painted the side of the cabinet in blackboard paint…to the left is the door
to the garage. In case you really care.
Added shelves attached from the cabinet to the wall…to create more storage and somewhat of a nook
for the washer and dryer. When that dryer dies and goes to dryer Heaven which it will...soon.
we'll get the dryer brother to the washer...then build a counter on top...and maybe even doors or a skirt...or neither. keepin' ya on your toes.
Inside the 50 clam cabinet…
important stuff. Toilet paper and rubber gloves?
don’t ask.
Even found a good place for my house numbers I brought back from Argentina…
i was on a roll…
Then…inspired by our old madge coathangers
I decided to dabble in a little bit of an orangey red. Mai Tai by Ralph Lauren Paints
I was told I shouldn’t….
But I did…
smack dab on the new door from
Home Depot….40 clams….run to your nearest…see if they are still
there!
the doors were 369 if special ordered….they had tons for 40 buckaroos.
yeppers.
added a couple of cute barn lights.
I needed help with one….but
installed the ceiling light
and the house is still standing. Can I have an Amen!
Oh…rug was a 5 buck steal at IKEA…won’t last forever
but am loving the punch of color!
Um. The mosaic is what happens when you don’t measure your tile correctly
and you like to fly by the seat of your pants
and then you find an old rusted metal bird in the garage
and you just stuff him in too.
because.
yeah, yeah…need to re-paint the cabinets and maybe change out the knobs
and…
Oh yeah.
do some laundry.
maybe.
**I need to go round up some befores...then you might be a teeeensy bit impressed. At least I was. Teensily.
So
We have an old, gnawed on puppies... story holding kidlets
farm table
but it is a light pine color...
I would like it to be a bit darker
How would YOU do that?
sand and stain?
sand and wax?
no sand?
Help a gal out
wouldj’ya?
