Only in Key West does the American flag ...have a hint of Hibiscus flower and Palm trees for stars…Oy.
In memory of those who serve…
How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!
more like a pusher… it’s rising barometer
daring us to inhale it.
Smirking at times.
And yeah… we push back
in the beginning.
Because we think this may be the one that saunters in slowly…in our time. Not it’s.
This is the year we’ll get everything done so we can enjoy.
go ahead...laugh away.
But we can never push it back…It comes, and seeps in cracks…and warms everything
to hot. To scalding...even.
Old tired pools beckon…plead
Work never ends…it slows…
In the heat.
But never ends…
albeit hot under black fur.
even though they do have cute white sneakers.
but...Pleading all the same.
Then… evening rolls in
in pink and purple and Gray
And we beckon another day.
"In summer, the song sings itself."
~William Carlos Williams
Join me on a little excursion…deeper South…Belize
The heart of the once Mayan empire
where turquoise waters lap up to the jungle’s edge...
Where relaxation is fairly effortless
like maybe a big toe in the sand to move the slowing hammock
of Mayan huts…
Only a small spit of sand separates the cool pool
from the warm Caribbean waters
We can each have an individual round cabana
thatched in Palm.
With windows picturesquely crisscrossed with local branches
to prevent neon-colored tropical birds
so bright they look gaudy
from stopping in
Trees…in their entirety…make chairs, railings, lamps.
The walls are colored by rubbing natural dyes into them with cloths
This resort is conveniently for sale…and could be yours for the asking.
Well… 8 million clams…
and the asking.

Today was just aBeautiful day in the subtropics!
It CAN get killer hot fast...but today we entertained a flirtacious cool breeze
We happen to have a series of rooms we are working on...
in our yard
well…kinda sorta working on...the Freeze this past winter worked on 'em more...
Kinda wacky and homemade…
Check. Have that in spades, too.
natures best palate
riot of blooms...
SO... Son #1 spent some time
working on another rock room in
front of the Grandma B house
Need some more or different furniture…but a great start…
So…that’s a little happening at our casa…
But...personally... I LOVE perusing the work of a real tropical artist
Davis Dalbok a California landscape designer and author.
His work and images, below
This chaise lounge below…Well...I want.
and throw in those fun balinese umbrellas in a big pot
And if lime green and turquoise are not the most adorable tropical prom couple…
See those funky sticks below?
Mind out of the gutter folks.
fired ceramic bamboo shapes… stacked on rebar.
Please stay sweet.
I fell in love with this house
In my neck of the woods
kinda sorta…more sorta not so close...whatev
Coconut Grove FL
saw it recently on If the lampshade fits
A veritable jungle of seclusion…
patterned after living spaces in Bali
The architect, Max Strang tore down the original house...
and filled the footprint of it up with water
Cool pool? Cool pool.
Taking advantage of year round outdoor living,
the whole top floor of the house is just that…
The tropical modern indoor has cement floors
and clean lines
frame the lush green beyond.
sink into it here
… I am
trying to figure out how to fit everything I want in the Living room…then paint.
Honestly…I will offer anyone a dollar who helps me figure it out
a dollar people…
I won’t even ask you to wash the windows.
I’m waiting for the deluge of emails…and calls as I write
…Working on re-upholstering a chair…finding it not quite as simple as it seems this time…
and it needing more fabric than I thought…
Cleaning out the garage… Not because I want to…
but because the freezer decided to expire…full of frozen- turned to mush food…
yeuuuck...and leaking out of said fridge.
Thank goodness for the help of my Mom who came over armed with gloves and shoes...
although she would have rather been at the beach…really? Why?? Can't imagine.
…and a leetle bit O’ help from some teenage people…
that happen to live here.
Not my garage…but COULD be…threw it in for your visual pleasure
My Hubby seems to be on the other side of the planet…above Iran…near Iraq…
....and just informed me he lost his phone…and credit cards
What was I NOT doing…
NOT relaxing in the pool…like some …
I call a do-over.
