Come take a peek…

At a tiny church

Housed at the corner of a busy street in the city of Cape Town, South Africa

french

this old church still retains its original charm with its beautiful arched windows. The white building has lost none of its solemnity.

and now becomes a home…

Thanks to architect Perry Harrison-Hyde

Old worn wood

mingled with white washed arched windows

Yet…with a modern edge and mixture of styles…

Sleeping loft.

Monastic. Simple

um… and a tad dangerous

Breathing space.

Divine conversion?

Brilliant...and breathtaking. I think that home could easily be my Ashram (if, of course, I were a practicing yogi!)

very interesting space...love the loft. the only thing that looks out of place to me is the giant screen. i could find a better place for that.

Oh Linda this home is beautiful! The photography are so fitting. As a child I wanted to always live in an old schoolhouse or church. xo

Oh My, Linda! What a spot. All that light and all those contrasts between old and new (look at those gothic windows and all the raw industrial elements). What a great place for entertainment.

Thank you for sharing this unusual but lovely home.

Happy weekend to you.

I think it would be cool to make an old church into a home. I like it but I could do without the nekkid butt in the kitchen! and the big feet.... but the white, the windows and all were lovely.

I love the old white wash with the contrast of the dark wood! And the sleep loft?! A little bit dangerous?!! I wouldn't last an hour up there! Thanks for sharing!

i'd be afraid of falling off the mattress, and off the thin loft.

i have always thought that making a church into a home could be quite cool.

I love it! But I would definitely be putting up a rail! Maybe a glass one like a friend of mine had ... keep the open space! Wow, it's really something. It would be great to paint in there! (paintings not the walls!)
