Looking for a Christmas gift?

Some people…some people have a higher calling. Some just do.

Sarah does.

IMG_7302

I had the privilege of learning about Sarah’s cause…her life work… this weekend.

It’s not a pretty cause….but it has saved many a life. Empowered sooo many.

It is a beautiful cause.

Sarah helps survivors of human trafficking… women and children, and men…

become self sufficient.

She founded the Emancipation Network

Abolitionists of the highest order.

The survivors make beautiful goods…which are bought at fair prices…100% goes back to them.

yep. Who knew…

Human trafficking…right under our nose.

Unicef grimly reminds us there are more than 1.2 million children trafficked into sex slavery and human labor… each year.

That is a lot of bright lights squelched. Unheard. Without voice.

IMG_7296

Our fair state of Florida is right up there with trafficking slaves for labor.

Maybe picking in the groves. Maybe prostitution.

Sarah and her organization partner to save them

and give them hope…and give them skills…to earn money.

I bought this beautiful felted wool purse, handmade by a survivor.

It has soul, and color

and life.

It makes me happy.

and sad.

Look at their Bags and Jewelry and rugs.

Think about helping to make a difference.

Giving a chance.

Lighting a light of hope.

Owning happy.

Just today husband bought me a pair of earrings from another organization with the same cause. (Women at risk: www.WARinternational.org)
It is hard to believe this still happens, isn't it? But it does and I am glad there are ways to help. I love the new purse!

Linda I have heard for years Human trafficking was bad in the US as well as off shore. This makes me so sad- how some humans could treat another human this way. I can see how your purse would give you mix feelings. I'm off to visit their site.

I had your blog up for a bit and got side track with work. I saw your comment pop up and you made me smile!!! xo

I love discovering organizations like this so we can help in some small way. There's so much need out there and so many of us want to help but don't know how to. Thanks for highlighting this cause!

A nice worthy post!! And what a cute bag. (I feel rather pulled by leaving a "cute" comment under the circumstances.) Thanks for shedding some light on this situation.

Why, yes. I AM looking for Christmas gifts! Trying to get my shopping done early this year... I love stuff like this. I still have drawers full of embroidered purses and scarves that I bought from similar organizations for widows of the Afghan wars and from groups in Thailand. I always have something on hand for a gift. Looks like I'll be visiting these fine folks and adding to my gift chest. Thanks for bringing this organization to our attention! Thank goodness for people like this.
