Sweet sweet 16…

So I celebrated a birthday party with a favorite 16 year old…

I was the lone adult among a cadre of teens

go ahead. weep for me.

I was given the enviable task of staying at the pavillion

guarding assorted ipods,purses,keys...flip flops (??)IMG_9497

while they all went running off into the surf. Gallavanting merrily...

hey…man…

Hours…maybe it was even days went by…

and I sat…and dutifully watched. and watched. and watched

seemingly all of my friends and family were at every other corner of the earth.

I sat alone. sniff.

Finally…they returned….to open some ::cough:: interesting gifts...and others very benevolent...

Later, That evening Some of the girls and I spent the night

in a funky little villa on the ocean

In the morning I peacefully awoke to the sounds of waves

refreshed..rejuvenated…

yeah...so maybe I did call the one bedroom...so?

IMG_9549

ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

And took a walk on the beach…and stretched...IMG_9542

Um…

They didn’t. that would be a table their feeties are on

payback is a beeyotch.

~mother of the year award coming soon.~

Happy Birthday my love!

oh…and the kink in your back will be gone by tomorrow. promise.

Oh Linda!!! Feel sorry for you? NO WAY! You are so blessed. What a wonderful Mombie you are. I loved the teen years with my Bad Alice. Sometimes I even miss them so much, I cry, even though I LOVE who she is now. Happy Birthday to the BD Girl. So much more JoY to come.

You made me cry! So sweet and yes you DO deserve the 'Mother of the Year' award!! When my girl turned Sixteen she was at Hyline camp at Texas A&M. She was fine and with her friends but I cried all night. As a grown woman she is still fine, thank God!

What we mothers do for our children even now, years later, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

What a great mom! Sounds like your daughter and her friends had a fabulous time.

The Driftwood Inn is one of my favorite places...From the time we began dating, my hubby and I would always go there for breakfast whenever we were in Vero or Ft Pierce. Even now...we always stop by. It's one of THOSE cheished memory places. Maybe we should STAY there sometime...(Hope my BFF won't mind)

Hi Linda,

Love this post! The lone pair of boots among the flip flops is a great pic, as is the sleeping group.

Glad you had some peaceful beach time, too.

Recently we celebrated our 4 year anniversary in Islamorada... :)

Happy Summer and Happy Birthday to your sweet daughter.
