It is a city of dichotomy…

Resolute and radiant
Old Ancient even….and cutting edge

It has withstood a history
unsung by many…conquered. stolen.

But This small country no larger than the state of West Virginia
Has retained it’s language. It’s customs and
it’s culture.

I was wondering where that was ... it's so beautiful. So, I looked back to your last post. OMG, is that Lithuania??!! My Father's parents came from there!! I had no idea it was such a beautiful country. Thanks for sharing.

That is just the tip of the iceberg,themoose53. The countryside is splendid and ripe and verdant in the summer....the houses, beautiful. Will post pics of that too for you!

My office manager was born in Lithuania and emigrated as a young girl. She lived in a town south of Boston that had a section called Lithuanian Village where many of the displaced people moved. She's kept some of the food alive and is passing it down to her grandchildren. She really enjoyed seeing your photos. There little things such as the rye bread that I could tell really hit sweet memories that were perhaps nearly forgotten. So thank you for sharing your trip.

Steve...I wanted to bring the duona (their rye bread) home with me! It is soooo delicious! They used to make HUGE loaves that would last 2 weeks.I hope she can go back one day!

Linda your blog is absolutely wonderful. I know now what all the fuss is about. I am reading past posts when I don't sleep at night...
