Sometimes love is a bit of sprinkled sugar...caramelized...

...An ode to Grandma B
Who makes THE.
Most. Amazing.
Pies.
She, with little effort...and years of practice...
creates the flakiest, lightest...most delectable crust
Ice water is a secret. Shhhh.
Sprinkles of cane sugar carmelize on top

I do not have A child nor a lucky friend who doesn't crave a Grandma B pie...
Ambrosia...Nectar of the Gods.
We are lucky, for sure.

Simple.
Homeade.
With lots of love.
Yes. I am sure that is the true secret...

Baking with love.

Oh, my goodness! Your grandmother makes the best looking pies and you take the best pictures of pies! I felt like the pie crust was flaking right off the screen and onto my keyboard. :) I hope you've taken good notes from her.

The crust is alway my favorite part of the pie...any pie. I've never perfected Granny's crust, but it looked like your Grandma B's, Linda. J says my mother made the best lemon meringue pie he ever ate. I haven't perfected that, either!!

Great post! Certainly makes my soup in a box look very puny, that's for sure!!
Have a great weekend!

What a beautiful pie! The crust is amazing. My grandmother also made the most wonderful pies I've ever had, and I'm sure that the secret ingredient is love! However, she couldn't bake a cake to save her life! Love you blog! Kathy

Oh Linda~This makes me want to bake a pie. Except living alone I would eat the whole thing probably in one sitting.
I have to tell you that I went to see Greg Mortensen last night. I am just blown away.
I want to thank you for your visit to my blog & your wonderful deeply heartfelt words.
Now I am going to try to go post about last night. I fear that I can't even begin to do him justice because I was SO in awe of the whole night, that remembering details eludes me...

Yep, it's love! My Gramma used to make a small pie - just for me (her favorite amongst all grandchildren) and mark it with an R (she said gloatingly - is that a word?) ~ Robyn

Oh no no no....This is not MY grandma, but my kidlets (my mom). She gifts us with her pies often...and what a treat.

I was never a pie lover, and growing up it was a common thing...even steak and kidney pie...My mom (and Dad) is/was Canadian, so pie is the second language.

My Kids, should have been hers...cause they SOO love a good pie. The gene excaped me. I admit and embrace that.

....And feel so lucky that they can taste a REAL pie.I even love 'em. And am the families self proffessed pie not lover.

'Cause lord knows, when it comes to pie crust, I don't do well. Nope.

I was going to say, nobody bakes a flaky pie like my mom, but this one seems to look pretty flaky and yummy.

Makes me want to blow the diet!
