The reality is…

I don’t style. I plunk.

and as far as careers for plunker’s….Nill.

IMG_0627

Hell…I don’t even pick up most of the time.

IMG_0625

so when I want to take a pic of a whole room….It is often hard. And not so pretty

IMG_0587-1

Not to mention…this is the leftover room. Once dining room. Once library. Now office/junk collector room.

you have one. no?

The down loveseat never sold (for 35 clams!) at our garage sale...

so I slip covered it in linen…and threw it in the “room”

The arms have other material thrown on them ‘cause the big black dog sneaks up there…and yes…slobbers.

This is my reality. styled. HA!

This is a rug I pulled in from the kitchen….It’ll go back.

It is embarrassed being seen in this shot.

gulp.

Plunking. Not such a good thing.

WOW! The wall color is amazing. And love it with the red rug. It's just what I was hoping to see when I first saw the wall color. So much nicer than that Quiet Moments color.

I like the results of your"plunking". And I LOVE the blue wall....

Linda, your "plunking" is artsy and creative and full of your own style. LOVE that wall color. I'm a cobalt/indigo/royal blue kind of person so I think this is fabulous!

You nut...your plunking process has a very high success rate.

[This is coming from one who skews a bit minimalist, too -- yet I get no sense of overcrowding or unfortunate randomness.]

The blue came out so well. I miss my cobalt wall/fir floor combo room (which looked pretty 3 months of the year in sun and horrid the other 9 in rain). I'm happy yours will be perfect 99% of the year!

As for the rug...I'm thinking you might be right about whisking it back to the kitchen. It feels a little heavy to me in the room.

I could see something with a more neutral field and brighter patterning, or a softer field that plays will with the cobalt but has light neutral patterning to tie in the sofa, bookcases etc.

I have no doubt you'll find some amazing deal that suits you perfectly. Good luck!

Maybe you should make plunking a thing, because your room looks pretty darn good! That wall color is fabulous, too.

You know...I believe you're my kinda women! I didn't realize there was a word for what I do. I plunk! However, I do pick up and style, but then get over it about half way through and I guess that's when it becomes plunking!

Fellow Plunker, I feel your pain. I have a leftover dining room planned to be that grand thing called a library but where we put anything that doesn't categorically fit in any other room. I have the slobbering dog - just times 2 and golden retreivers insead of a black dog- but all that being said I must tell you that your plunking is more inviting and beautiful than most styled rooms. Keep up the good work and keep on plunking because I love your hacienda in the subtropics and your blog is a must read for me. marcie@madebymolliesmom.blogspot.com

You can come plunk at my house anytime!! That carpet! Those glass bottles on top of the shelves! That photo of those scraggly maned beasts! Beautiful. All of it. And I love that dark blue wall. :D!

WOW, if I had one of these rooms I would want it to be just like yours! Beautiful!! I haven't done the photo yet but will when I get back. Before we left I took some art pieces to be framed. Enjoy!! xo

I love your blue wall. It looks great and personally I like the red rug- it's talking to the red books on the shelf and adding warmth to the room. A classic combination.

I just bought a large clam shell and decorated it similar to your picture for fall. I love it! The shell was a bit pricey -so now I want to know how I can decorate it for Christmas next month!

Plunking.....the new word for styling which by the way is so 2011. Leave it to you for being ahead of the curve. By the way all sarcasm aside......I wish my "junk" room had 10% of that style. Whoa.
