So, on a thrift haunt

I came across an old wooden Surveyors measuring stick.

Couldn’t leave it. you know how that goes.

15 feet in length…with three slides of five feet each.

NOW what does one do with it?

Relegate it to the once boys room/office?

But there are already funky long sticks hanging in the hallway. Loitering, more like.

So they are clearly not letting him join in their tropical fun.

Hate cliques

So plop him over on the other side…looking sad and forlorn

Above the shutters? In the kitchen?

Where o where will X mark his spot.

Chair project…yet another.

So

When you see a made in ‘Merica Lee industry chair

at your local habitat store

You tend to buy it

I do anyway

Particularly when said chair was all of 30 clams.

Yeah…it has a few stains. It was 30 bucks.

THEN

You uncover a steal of a deal…like under 6 dollahs for 4 yards

of a beautifully woven cotton  fabric

That has a fun little tribal vibe.

It has one Big..big black dog big…stripe down the middle in pewter.

So then you head to your magic closet

you know the one….lippin full with textiles and fabric and tablecloths

‘cause you might have a leeeetle problem not buying said items

and you find Henry….The Thomas Paul whale who was swimming away in there…

and you think

Hmmmmm.

Then you pull out an old Swiss army blanket

and you say

umhmm.

 * the colors actually work well together...cannot get the camera to prove it though

Then you see this….

Steampunk light gets punked…

Yeah….so there it was sitting there looking forlorn. Élan-less.

Once a fairly expensive $450 dollar floor lamp

now reduced to less than 100 clams.

But it HAD élan. I could tell.

Aged brass and bronze arms and legs. The ability to hold a painting…small or large.

Why relegated to the back of the dusty SALE wing?

It’s cord had been cut. No plug. No life. the drama

C’mon….really? 80% off because of that?

I can buy a dollar fifty plug. I can. And I can read the directions

with help of a magnifying glass.

and I can put on a new plug.

Yeah…I know.

Now let us hope the punkin’ house doesn’t burn down.
