The making of a tropical wedding….

IMG_8786
Naw….The making of the making of a tropical wedding.
Nope….really….The crashing of a tropical wedding
The crashing of the making of a tropical wedding
There ya go.
It’s all about the honest quotient here at Lime in the Coconut.
IMG_8794
IMG_8891
coconuts were involved
So….Enter a STUNNING Old Vero homestead. Hidden away.
Guarded by ferocious, albeit, artsy cats
IMG_8981-001
You may have met them and Archie  before… here
IMG_8799
when I did a post on The Sugar Shack
So…where was I?
Yes. was at stunning property. seemingly miles of verdant foliage.
IMG_8974
Palm lined drive…
IMG_8980
Not  the pretentious, stuffy kind of stunning.
IMG_8867
But the kind of stunning that is rare and real…and embroiled in a history of our town…
Authentic.
Old Florida. Real people. Warm and big hearted people that generously put on
a wedding for a friend.

On their sublime subtropical property

Under the guidance of talented local interior designer Jesse Nartker ,
Jann,  house owner and cat rescuer extrordinaire, and family
put together an evening of beauty for around 150 family and friends.
The theme was citrus…in color…in feel
And in a big
silver bowl of oranges straight off the trees.
IMG_8918-001
Indian River is known for their citrus far and wide….
orange blossom often perfumes the  night air of our small town
Huge paper lanterns  think grapefruit, orange, lemon were amassed in the ceiling of the 60 foot tent
…each individually lit for nightfall
IMG_8839-001
Jann said….next time….she would double the amount.
she said “next time…” did you hear that?!

IMG_0947
The tent was married to the existing 3  or was it 30   car garage
probably NOT like your garage….certainly not like mine…
with a fireplace….
IMG_0938
Jesse and Jann reworked furniture and lighting to make it
the most classy and classic food serving station….and bar….
and hang out by the coconuts kinda spot
IMG_8944-001
this is walking from the tent into the transformed garage

they were still working their magic setting up as I stealthly took pics.
No palm trees were killed in the making of this wedding
maimed? …..eh, perhaps.
IMG_8916-001
Two things to note, ok three… cuz I did…The garage has sets of doors coming in from the north…and heading out  south, directly opposite,  to the pool area….So you would walk in to through the tent, into the garage and back out towards the pool. open open light and airy…ingenious use of filmy fabric to cover garage doors…
second..They used fabulous old and antique and thrifted vessels for the food
real….homestyle…

 IMG_8903-001
And THIRD...this really is a wedding of re-use...NOT over abundance. Re-working old furniture, dinnerware and lighting finds....using greens, coconuts...even citrus from the yard...using this GORGEOUS property over renting a place. It was clearly a work of many...and most likely a labor of love. BEST combination. Kudos to the team!

And while I was escorted out   chose not to stay for the food presentation
It was fun to see the sticky notes of what went with what antique and  oh so loved dish.
Ok…so we move out to the pool area….surrounded by huge candle lit wax pillars
IMG_8816
IMG_8926
and past that to a cool folly near a small pond with stepping stones
IMG_8940
IMG_0888
The wedding took place by the pond IMG_8858on the side of the property
IMG_8855-001

It truly was a beautiful
tropical
citrus-full affair

Hope you enjoyed crashing it with me….
now… if you could spare a dime
to post bail.

With the wedding hosted on such a lovely property, that is definitely a great beginning to their new "together" life.
