Tagged: Five things to love about our state...

Ahh...FLORIDA

photos: Flickr... unless noted
Never thought I would be living here...Ever.
Coming from Colorado and New York...and having only done spring break in
Florida....my view of it was concrete jungle and condos.

I came to live here kicking and screaming...and told my husband three years...TOPS!

10 years have flown by.

I was (and am) wonderfully surprised by it's depth , beauty, culture and people

...and continue to find hidden treasure's
Recently katie-did from California tagged me...asking that I post 5 things to love
about our state (and then spread the love to 5 more) .
Okey dokey then...

What continually amazes me about Florida:

1.that orchids grow wild in the oak trees!

2.We can have a fresh fruit salad straight from our yard...

Bananas, Pineapple, mangoes, papaya, star fruit, Lemon, Lime,

Avacado, mint and even coffee beans (yep...tried our hand at coffee!)

3.There are working cattle ranches deep in Florida...and many are true stewards of this beautiful wild land.
It is a whole beautiful...often unknown, world in its own right.

Photos: Adams cattle Ranch

4. We have one of the oldest cities in the nation...St. Augustine(who knew....eh?)

5. And of course...hard to think of Florida without thinking of the Ocean

...in its ever changing moods and personalities

Now I want to know more about these 5 wonderful bloggers States:
....and GO!

very beautiful post. Often times the grass can always seem greener but it is nice to take a moment and enjoy where we are.

Holidays in Florida when I was a little girl are some of my favorite memories. And we still love our visits to Amelia Island at least once a year.

thanks for the tag! Well, now I'm off to find some fun facts about my state.

I could eat this post with a spoon, it's that deliciously perfect. I feel the same way. Except for the 3 years tops thing. From my first visit as a child I knew this was where I was meant to live. I'm tropical to my core. :)

Sigh. Florida is a state I would love to explore! Thanks for the virtual visit! When I lived in Louisiana, we did a road trip along the gulf, but Pensecola is as far as we got. Someday! ;)
Thanks for playing!

Beautiful post and photos. Yep, you can even be a cowboy in Florida! Some of my favorite memories visiting my grandparents in South Florida are picking my own tangerines from my grandparents' backyard tree as well as drinking the fresh limeade from their lime trees. Oh, and picking the most delicious strawberries from strawberry fields.

I'm glad you are enjoying it more than you thought you would. :-)

Lovely post, Linda. I've never visited Florida, although everyone in my family has! One of these days, I'm going to see Florida!

Your state is gorgeous. :) I never knew orchids grew in those beautiful oaks - that's amazing.

Awww. I always feel like I do this place a diservice. It is humbling how subtle and beautiful it is...and there is certainly a change in seasons...It is subtle and quiet. You just need to watch closer.

However...gotta say...I cringe just a tad near election time {shivers}.

Love hearing all of your stories! For those who haven't visited...go deep (inland) listen carefully...you will really feel her heartbeat.

Very interesting to read. I was moved kicking and screaming to Miami but I never learned to like it. I'm betting you are not in Southern Florida! I think I would have actually liked northern Florida. Thanks for tagging me but I have to tell you I am terrible at these things!

Liz Harrell said...

I agree.. Florida is so much more than retirees (or the Northern Blue Hairs as my father-in-law used to call them affectionatly when he lived in Tampa).

I had to vow to Matt when I started to blog not to discuss where we live. But believe me... it's really not that interesting. Lots of southern slang and bbq. :)

Hey Linda! What a beautiful post and I'm certainly enjoying myself down here in FL this week (which happens to be the place I've lived most).

Thank you for the tag, but I don't think I'm going to get around to any blogging 'til I get back to NY. I'll post my fav things about NY at that time.

I'm beginning to feel so far behind on reading all my fav posts and right now I'm well behind 700 posts in my bloglines. UGH, but I'll catch up next week.

Blessings - Debbie

Hi Linda, I am just trying to catch up from vacation. I didn't know you were in St. Augustine. Another blogger friend of mine is from there too.
I used to live in Boca a bit south of you.
I'll try to catch up with the rest of your posts in the next few days.

TTYL, B.
