Jungle Beauties….

Amazing feats of nature…reds and yellows…lobster claws…

Heliconia_rostrata_kewgardens_london_arp

Even hairy think monkeys in the jungle…or baby parrots. Weird but true.

We are so gifted in the tropics…or sub tropics.

Such refined delicacies of color and shape.

Heliconia. Perfect.

We continue to rip apart our yard. Edit. Change.

...But thankfully find such gifts.

Happily thriving.

I love looking at things in a closeup view - it really makes you appreciate the beauty around you every day.

**swoons, then passes out** Even the hairy one...I LoVe! OOooo. Perhaps I was meant to be a hairy monkey in the jungle. Please tell me that all who were photographed were saved from the dreaded machete. **turns green with envy** Deb

gorgeous, when you say ripping do you mean ripping? as in a re do? your yard has looked beautiful have you actually thought of a way to make it better? I thought you were just pruning and maintaining but I am getting the idea you are into an overhaul--I can be slow like that.

I love all the tropical plants!
Too bad I can really grow them here in the midwest!

More good stuff. Those fuzzy ones really do look like baby parrots! I'd love to be able to grow plants like that.

your blog is a continual reminder of the beauty outside my own front door.

the hairy plant made me smile! i've never seen that variety before.

good luck with the yard makeover. you make me want to get out my hedge clippers...but i think i'll wait, as we have a soon-to-be hurricane heading towards the islands (and i was thinking, thank goodness i'm in south florida at the moment, instead...til i realized the storm may decide to visit these parts, too...hoping we don't get a double-whammy.) that's life in the sub-tropics: you take the good w/ the bad!

Wow Linda, all the photos are so stunning! It's hard to imagine all that beauty in one yard!
Is it hot?! It is here too. Remember to hose off your feet when working in the yard, it'll keep you cool! j.
