These mornings…when windows and doors are thrown open
to catch the nighttime breezes
we awaken to the gentle sound of burbling water
coming from a bamboo pot fountain…it has been gently pouring water for years…
through every season.
right outside our living room window in a small courtyard that is mostly ignored
allowed to wander.
There is no pretense…no pretty…just working away. Growing at will.
The ceiling is the untrimmed fuchsia of bougainvillea
in this little unkempt corner of our home.
But on mornings like this…with a cup of coffee…and some birds singing…
and the quiet of a family sleeping in…
it is a teensy slice of heaven
Gently trickling.
A glorious Sunday to you.

I could feel that gentle place....I love the early morning quiet when the house is quiet...but to have the sun shine down too....that's what I'm waiting for ....two months before it feels like that...loved it!
I have been looking at home/design blogs for years and years...
Yours is one of my absolute favorites. Look forward to your posts, and I adore your home and personal style.
Thank you.
Lovely and the air looks so clear! In my neck of the woods we have the singing birds too and everything is blooming BUT also heavy yellow oak pollen on EVERYTHING including inside our lungs. If you are coming to Austin, Texas this time of year a must are tissues and antihistamines!! Ah- Choo!

I'd almost forgotten that windows open.
I'm totally enamored with that mosaic if that's what it is. And does it have different colors of grout, or is the grout stained in different colors? It's very striking.
Beautifully peaceful...I could almost feel it through the photos. The mosaic is gorgeous!!!
Have a restful day...

i can feel the air... and it feels heavenly... thank you for this .... enjoy your day... xx
Yes...it IS a mosaic. Actually it is a table our kids made one year...different colored tile AND painted grout. I decided to hang it as art.
Thanks all!
Linda, Your courtyard is wonderful!
I love the little fountain and can't think of a better spot for that first cup of joe!

What a lovely piece of serenity you have there, Linda...looks divine and I can easily imagine being there.
What a beautiful blog! I love that mosaic and the fact that your children made it. Fabulous! Such a lush, colorful, fertile place. I can smell the air.
oh so beautiful!! i love love love
I love it, and would love to be sitting out there in my nightie and sipping good coffee with you dear friend. Sometimes those natural habitats turn out to be the best of all.
Linda,
I love 'your space'. I can see why you would enjoy the serenity of a quiet morning enjoying God's creation!
The wild but tamed...beautiful.

How beautiful... I love the idea of throwing open windows & the sound of trickling water. All the warmth & color of your Sunday afternoon patio are what I think of as paradise. Your beautiful photos make it a reality.

What a lovely place you have there...
I'm lovin' the mosaic on the wall ♥
When can I come? I could smell and hear all the sounds you described and feel the warmth of the sun...this is a truly divine start to any day!
Oh Linda! I was just thinking how content I was with a little bit of sunshine even though it's still freezing here! I'm glad you're soaking up some warmth for the rest of us!
You're pictures are so beautiful!!!!
Sigh. What a perfect way to spend a Sunday morning!
yep..windows open to heaven!!!
so fleeting here in florida. yesterday i was like a roasting luau pork on beach. way, way too hot for me!
Two days ago, I would have been right there with you, having the windows open and enjoying spring time in Florida, but now it's too humid, and the oak pollen here is horrible! Your home and photos are just beautiful, and enjoy them any time you post some. I love nature and all the beautiful tropical foliage we have here, and I have 15 years of growth, but I could never let mine get like yours, so beautiful, natural and enchanting around each corner...I am extremely afraid of snakes, and I have to see if there are any out in my yard before I go out in the summer - so we do a lot of trimming. You are so very fortunate, and talented.
Thank you for sharing such beautiful pictures of your home...love the bamboo fountain.

I'm so jealous. I just wish I'd have an hour of sun to open my shutters to!
