Some of you were looking forward to seeing our tree…
However, Like many…our tree is not so much decoration…
But family history.
look at that angelic golden face…carefully crafted 20 years ago…
It is the little hand crafted…Paper crumpled, pieces that are THE most cherished
The ones that don’t match…but were created by little hands
that grew. and grew.
and now some 20 something years later….truly are more important than any hand blown artisan glass.
And these are opened so carefully by all of us
because now, even the creators recognize how fragile and special they are.
each year ... put in the special boxes at the bottom of the bin with care
knowing they won’t last forever. what does?
THIS is our Christmas tree.
celebrating the growth. The beauty and the fragility of each passing year.
Maybe not ‘pretty’… to some
But so full of life….our lives.
Beautiful to us. To me.
yep. Baby shoes. first baby shoes. 16 years later. Exactly where they belong.
A celebration of us. Of growth.
Of change...
that is maybe postponed for one more glittery, beautiful season.

What a sweet, inspired idea!
I think your tree is beautiful. Among other treasures, we hang a construction paper chain made by my 25 yr old son when he was in Kindergarten, a tree ornament painted by my 23 yr old son when he was in 1st grade, and a pair of mittens I wore as a child. Each year as I unwrap the tissue paper surrounding each ornament, my heart swells and I smile at all the memories. It's a good thing.
I love love it!! This is how my tree is..... full of sweet sweet memories, to me that is what a tree should be!! Merry Christmas Kathysue

I want to relive those happy moments. Right now they are tucked away in boxes. It's time to get them out!

Those are the very best trees. With every ornament you hang a memory is attached.
These are the kind of ornaments my daughters and grandchildren took home with them over Thanksgiving. Lots of good memories and now they will have them for their trees.

Oh I love your tree! We have similar ornaments on ours. Some ornaments only hanging on by threads, but treasured and valued beyond any others.

Love it! The baby shoes are so sweet. I've never thought of using them as ornaments. My tree is the same, with the school project ornaments and little bits of memories from my children. It is really beautiful, Linda. Love all the beads and color too!

I have so much art created by my 3 elementary aged kids that it often litters my house--hard to imagine that it will disappear one day.
I save quite a bit, but need to save stuff for the tree, too.

Beautiful Linda! I thought I was a "clear/white light" girl...I LOVE the multi color lights... and all the special ornaments..my faves on my tree are also the ones from my childhood and the vintage ornaments my parents gave me.. there's something comforting when I open the boxes each year and re-unite with each treasure!

I was always known for doing over the top 'retail' trees. but I stopped that years ago and now take your approach...my trees are much better...
I am in love with it. I have really old things too. A tuna can that my daughter made into an ornament in kindergarten. Little knitted dolls old ladies in the nursing home made and even a few ancient ones from my Grandma. Me too me too. But somehow the way you tossed all that beaded garland over your tree it's so artfully gorgeous that my breath inhaled quick. You little ole artista you.
