Old vs. New…

I love a home that is old

and full of character on the outside...

And modern and fresh on the inside.

That’s just the mood I’m in today.

And it looks like a solid stone construction too, which I so love!!

Very modern for Tunisia. My husband's aunt has lived there for 40 years. I'd love to go someday.

Love the texture on the front of the house and the book shelf wrapping around the corner is genius! Sorry, took a little dip in the pool. **blows kisses** Deb

Oh Linda, I don't mind the pairing, but we were open housing (a typical favorite thing of ours to do on Sunday afternoons) and we pulled up to the MOST GORGEOUS french chateau style home. I immediately though - this is going to be my favorite! We walked in to a hot damned mess of remuddled madness and sputnick chandeliers. I hated it!

What I would do for those huge windows and all that natural light!

I'm still laughing about your dog's vocabulary! Ha! He knows a lot of the same words as Sadie. A fun one to teach them is "WetWILLIE!" When Sadie hears that she runs over to her daddy and sticks a big wet tongue in his ear!

linda, i've not seen a bookcase that wraps around the corner like that. hmmmm. i like it.

i love old and new too. i've moved from a queen anne victorian to a cozy beach place to our current 1950's ranch--each total fun to create and recreate.

have a great day, girl!

These people have carried out the old vs. new so that it's pleasing to the eye. Many do not. I do love the shelving that wraps around the corner...an interesting idea.
Have a wonderful weekend...

I"m thinking you wouldn't like all the junk at my house! I wouldn't mind living in those picture, though.

What a gorgeous home and setting, Ms L.

I love this look as well, though I've read enough decor-forum threads about "shocked when interior didn't match the exterior" to know my taste is not universal!

Their decor really highlights the airness and SPACE they have. Lovely.

I actually find that the scale and openness of 1950s or modern-modern furniture also works very well in the (much smaller!) early 20 c homes we have in the PNW.

Mr Vix and I have more or less gone that route, and while I wouldn't mind upgrading some of our thrift shop finds, the spareness works for me. With smallish rooms, "overstuffed" = "too squashed in" ha ha ha.
