Heh heh heh….(insert creepy laugh)

In our home

we have always had the birthday fairie…he leaves the kids a little something

at the foot of their bed the morning of their birthday.

Always. Maybe some chocolate, maybe some socks

maybe a small gift ya never know.

Somewhere…as our oldest became a teen…

he took on a bit more of a mischievous persona

IMG_5368

Some might even call him bit of a creeperin fact some in the house do.

But….religiously, every birthday he shows up

missing teeth and all…the first to wish them

a happy birthday.

…except the year the big black dog took off with him…and lost his hat.But that is a whole other story.

IMG_5414

Who me??

This weekend we celebrated another birthday at our casa…an 18th Birthday…

and the little creep…err Fairie… joined us. And even helped to make a

Coca Cola Chocolate Cake <---recipe here

IMG_5374

Southern, to be sure, but when you are a die hard fan of Coca Cola…as this 18 year old is known to be

then what’s a Fairie to do... but try a Coca Cola Cake.

IMG_5383

With all the decadent goodness of chocolate cocoa and buttermilk and Coke…

and marshmallows

IMG_5386

IMG_5387

Decidedly gooey

IMG_5397

Decidedly imperfect…

In that perfect kind of way

IMG_5404

But aren’t we all?

Happy Birthday to our favorite 18 year old Coca Cola lovin’

Kidlet…

Love,

The Birthday Fairie.

heh heh heh.

I had to laugh when I saw the little fairy. He is a bit scarey but funny at the same time. I love this tradition, great memory maker, for sure. I just did a Fairy garden last week but the visions of the fairies visiting are not quite like your Bday fairy, hehe. I did a post on it. I have decided I need more fairy gardens in my yard!! Have a wonderful Wednesday, Love your sense of humor, Kathysue

He mightn't be the best looker but he is a very sweet birthday fairy....xv

For a minute I was worried you were all Brothers Grimm on your wee toddlers...but then I read your fairie morphed as the ages advanced!

Hope your son has a wonderful milestone birthday. And that when he leaves the nest he will take your sense of humor out into the world with him.

[Though I kind of hate you for making me want cake for breakfast.]

I LOVE CHOCOLATE CAKE!

I love family traditions even the 'creepy ones' (to outsiders that is). My son only wants homemade from scratch cherry pie for his birthday; has ever since he was two years old. He is now 36 and still gets one made by his mama every year.

Happy 18th birthday to your 'baby'.

OK -- yeah, the fairy is definitely creepy!

(but, what a fun tradition).

The cake? OMG -- it looks WONDERFUL. I've heard of that type of cake but have never tried it. I'm thinking I need to change that!

How fun! My grandmother made this cake when we were small. Had completely forgotten about it. I'll have to go back and use your link to get a recipe for myself and give it a whirl... when I'm not afraid to encounter your creepy little faerie again.
