Salt water…

Standing at the salty edge of the ocean… looking out… I always see so much color.

Yet when I look down at my feet the liquid is as clear as gin.

Sometimes I wonder if two of us standing at the same placeand the same time truly even see the same colors the water holds.

Art in the moment…each movement and ripple depicts another color. None the same.I imagine

Water can present a special challenge for artists. Having no consistent shape or color.

It doesn’t reflect light or cast shadows the way solid objects do.

I so admire when artists capture the soul of the ocean.

I just finished a water post myself...so true about water...no form, color, shape, scent or taste...it's a mystery!

Knowing how hard it it to paint/depict water, I too admire artist who manage to depict it well. I would love to paint water like Marcelli Kasper. (and would love to post in the same style as you!-I love it).

Linda, these are amazing!

I have a crush on "Blue Crush"!

We watched the sun rise this morning in South Beach... wild rushing water...

The one of the surfer with the yellow surfboard is so wonderful, too, with the yellow reflection in the water...

Thanks for the intro!

I just discovered your lovely blog and have signed up as a follower. I've just put the finished touches on my new blog ‘Coastal Style’ and have added you to my blogroll. I had a lot of fun putting it together so maybe you would like to check it out if you have a spare minute.
http://coastal-style.blogspot.com/
It will have lots of inspiration on beach houses, resortwear, summer food, travel and anything ‘beachy’.

All wonderful pieces. That first one is amazing! I think they all share one quality...movement. How difficult is that to paint?

Beautiful work! Capturing the movement, form and depth of water is so difficult. Marie's paintings have done it well. I especially love her surfers...reminds me of my boys...

Sure water can pose as a big challenge for artists since water is the only thing which has no shape and form. The paintings are remarkable.

Lovely work. I love good art. That one painting of the beach baby could BE my baby! talk about moving your soul. That looks just like my little Heather out on Pleasure point in SC. I love the ocean, just spent 2 days there and it was great!!
