A freeze...
not the snow kind like many of you have lived through
but a freeze that kills tropical plants
blew through here this winter…
Much damage to repair
or mourn
So... my trusty new bug friend
Milo and I
with clippers and machete in hand
went to survey the damage
...and commence chopping
we’ve learned living here…through hurricanes
that nature is beautifully resilient
most things will come back with a vengeance.

So true about the resilience in plants. I know a friend who lives out in California, and she says that after the fires everything comes back so lush and full. So let's keep our fingers crossed for your plants.

So sorry to see your poor little plants looking so sad. I feel your pain! My beautiful blue agave here in Ojai got hit a few weeks back and her tips are brown and withering. But, you've turned a negative into a positive... love the centerpiece.... and keep smiling!

It's kind of ridiculous how much I enjoy the Milo posts. But they do showcase your *visual* sense of humor, so I'm giving myself a pass.
Milo showed us a lot of beautiful things, in various conditions. Cut those plants down, fertilize and wait for the sun to kiss them back to health.

I know how that is to have to frost freeze your plants! I do it every April when I plant too soon.
I am sure they'll come back wtih a little TLC:)

Milo will be missed... he's the only kind of bug I want in my plants!!!
I just trimmed away all the dead leaves of our ginger plants. Amazingly, there is a lot of new growth coming up from the base of the plant. But, alas, the crotons have bitten the dust. Oh well...time to start again. At least I had not replanted the front flower bed...this one is ready for new plantings...something bright and cheerful!

What a wonderful piece for the table! Nature goes on, and on..., I watched one of these films (I think there are a couple of them now) that show what would happen if all people disappeared. And you get to see how plants would soon cover everything.

I visited south FL in January- loved that chilly weather, but then I heard the little lizards were dying, literally dropping dead from the cold. :(
Tropical plants do come back with a vengeance, prettier than before. It won't be long...!

Ha. Milo would have had a short life span in our house. :) So sorry to hear about all your freeze damage. I'm pretty sure my gardenia bush bit the dust this winter too. So sad about it.
Don't worry the plants they will be back! Except for the one sitting on your coffee table. Beautiful but definitely dead. Your house looks so lovely and Milo will be missed.
