We live in a fairly small city on the east coast of Florida...It has a true small town feel. When you head out west...away from the ocean,
you hit dirt roads and orange groves and horse country.
It is relaxed living for sure...kids live in shorts and flip flops.
We do have some beautiful old homes, and many new.
Local designer, Rod Mickley, gives us a taste of our town...
Outdoor living is a favorite thing...
I love all the natural light in these living rooms.......
....That African chair!
..... I would possibly give my eye teeth for those old colored illustrations.
More natural light...It is always sunny.
....And the living is easy...

Lovely home! I too love the access to natural light.
If I had the money to start all over... Sigh.
I love all of the lighting and furniture. It gives the home such an open and clean environment, a cozy place to unwind with a book and wine in hand.
These rooms are all so beautiful. I especially love the outdoor living concept. I would live on a covered porch like that year-round if I could!
My brother and sister-in-law have a ranch outside Sarasota on lots of acreage, and when we went to see it I was surprised at how different it looks from the Sarasota I knew as a tourist who always stayed on the beach. You see those dirt roads, horses, and cattle that you mentioned.
Loved this post! -Julia :-)
I cannot imagine living somewhere where the weather is so beautiful! Although I would not give up the changing seasons our little part of the world offers, I can see the draw of having so much energizing sunlight all the time...
I love those photos, especially the one with the beautiful white and yellow patterned chairs. Heavenly!!

Beautiful post, Linda!!
Oh Linda, this post makes me homesick for Florida (I grew up there) so much. I love the open breezy feel of this beautiful home. Beautiful pics, thanks for sharing!
I love your posts! I'll be checking back in often!
great eye candy - yes! love it!
Thanks for looking and commenting all! Yes, the light and those higher than high ceilings and windows just are the icing on the cake...ok...that and the outside living!!
Debbie...where in FL did you grow up?
I adore his design aesthetic...and the architecture that he had to work with is amazing. My favorites are the living room, the outdoor spaces, and that kitchen eat-in area that is surrounded on three sides with French doors. Beautiful!
Love those blue shutters. Such an unexpected and bold choice.
