Whoops I did it again…..Lampapalooza.

Another trip to my local habitat store

and I found yet ANOTHER lamp I apparently needed.

This one is HUGE and HEAVYand I have no clue what to do with itsigh.

IMG_1427

My first thought was to use it outside in our covered area by the pool

But in bringing it home, the shade was ruined…it was fugly anyway…but now another shadeless lamp is at our casa.

IMG_1428

What would you wise and savvy folks do

hmmmm?

It does need a taller harp for sure

IMG_1433

Half gallon of milk to give you an idea of size….

Ooooh….and do you love the Swiss Army blanket I picked up too???

I do!

So give a girl a hand…suggestions…ideas….ever seen a lampapalooza like this?

Lets skip down memory lane together and take a peek at the other Habitat lamp *finds* I have dragged home

shall we?

The above water bottle lamp was transformed last year…remember it here

I love lamps too, and rarely, if ever buy them new, it's a sickness really! I found one very similar to yours in shape and size, though mine doesn't have the woven detail. I haven't found a shade for it yet, but I'm thinking modern drum shade. I also thought about taking the lamp parts off and just having an earthy jug too...

Yes Michelle...I thought of the pot thing too. But God knows I have far too many of THEM!

I tried a drum shade (I had a large 18 inch) and it was waaay to small...

I wanna see your lamp!

Great find. I have a lamp fetish myself. I know this sounds crazy, but I think a tall shade covered in a burlap material would look cool. It would be a huge contrast in shapes, but a neat combo just the same. Have a wonderful weekend.

Hahaha, you're so funny, Linda...every time I'm inspired by you to go over to Habitat for a lamp look, I see nothing. Nada. Wanna come with me next time?

I was going to suggest taking it apart and just using it as a big old jug. Maybe some bamboo poles in it to collect. But someone beat me to it.

BOYCOTT AMERICAN WOMEN
Why American men should boycott American women

http://boycottamericanwomen.blogspot.com/

I am an American man, and I have decided to boycott American women. In a nutshell, American women are the most likely to cheat on you, to divorce you, to get fat, to steal half of your money in the divorce courts, don't know how to cook or clean, don't want to have children, etc. Therefore, what intelligent man would want to get involved with American women?

American women are generally immature, selfish, extremely arrogant and self-centered, mentally unstable, irresponsible, and highly unchaste. The behavior of most American women is utterly disgusting, to say the least.

This blog is my attempt to explain why I feel American women are inferior to foreign women (non-American women), and why American men should boycott American women, and date/marry only foreign (non-American) women.

Tens of millions of American men have had their lives completely destroyed by American women through the following crimes:

1. False rape accusations (it has been proven that up to 80 percent of rape accusations are FALSE)

2. False domestic violence (DV) charges (same as above)

3. Financial destruction of men in divorce courts through alimony and support payments (women get up to 95 percent of their ex-husband's income and savings, as well as the house, car, etc)

4. Emotional destruction of men by ex-wives who have stolen their children from them and forbidden contact

5. Divorced dads who commit suicide as a result

Not one single American woman has EVER condemned their fellow American women for committing these crimes against men. Silence means consent. Therefore, American women support and enjoy destroying men's lives and causing men to commit suicide. Apparently, American women think it is okay to be a criminal, just as long as you are a woman. Therefore, is it any surprise that a huge percent of American men no longer want anything to do with American women, other than using them for easy sex and then throwing them away?

Over 50 percent of American women are single, without a boyfriend or husband; so the fact is most American men no longer want to marry American women. Let these worthless American women grow old living alone with their 10 cats.

BOYCOTT AMERICAN WOMEN!

A national morning radio show talked about the Boycott American Women blog and was heard by millions of people.

You do have a knack for thrifting. Great lamp base. It would make a great jug too. I think I'd hit up a shade shop and try a bunch on for size. I vote for large drum with a slight taper. It's so tapered at the base of the lamp.

Such a timely post!! I have actually started hitting up my local HFH every time it works into Lachlan's nap schedule. Each and every time I go first to the lighting department but so far have found nothing that comes even close to your awesome treasures. But the other day I did come home with a nice little chair for $4. Just needs to be refinished and some new upholstery. :D

And I see in your comments here that you said the lamp had just recently come in. I have noticed that the last few times I have gone, the cool things I have picked up have been put out that day. If only I lived close enough to go every day!

You have found some wonderful pieces. I absolutely love the brass swing arm lamp you bought!!

donna baker said...

I love lamps too. I can't think of a shade except maybe a white one that you can decorate with some Ikat fabric. Didn't you cover a chair in Ikat?

I love lamps! My husband says I am a lampaholic! I have some in my closets waiting for what "I don't know what" as I have no place to put them but I just can't get rid of them. I found a HUGE vintage circa 1950's white ceramic table lamp at an estate sale for $45.00 a few years ago. At the Midcentury shop here a lamp like it is around $300.00! I have a thing for lampshades too. I have so many stored! At the same estate sale I found two huge vintage drum seagrass shapes for $1.50 in the garage!!!! My heart was beating fast for days after that!

Love your lamps, in fact the lady one is the post that got me hooked on reading your blog.

You find the best stuff at your Habitat. I need to go more often here in Austin.

i must be on the same wavelength as Donna because my first thought was ikat too. Mind you I have been thinking my own place needs a little redecorating, and ikat features prominently, so maybe I'm just obsessed. Unlike a lamp which you can always find a spot for, I have just come home with a yellow dining table base that was left out for a curbside pickup. I think I may have been a little rash!

Lamps are like earrings.....if you see a cool pair just get them...eventually you will find an outfit that can accompany them. Get a lamp shade for that bad boy and display proudly. Meanwhile you have inspired me to head to the Restore today.

I always have trouble finding lighting fixtures and lamps that are interesting and creative ... but you!!!!
You are a magnet for creative fabulousness in the light department! I think the new one would look great with a natural linen shade ... or the Ikat idea would be fabulous!
