A simple chair story

It was at a yard sale...all alone.
$5.00.
I brought it home in its golden ratan color. Old florida...
well, mid-florida.Think Golden Girls
Last weekend I gave it a fresh coat of black/brown depth.
plopped some pillows that were leftover from another couch...
they fit... somewhat.
...and gave it a new home in the ever-changing
Living room.

I thought...not bad for $5 bucks...

You know...re-use, re-purpose....

Then.....
He found it.

Looks like he's protesting no walk at the beach for a while!

Or maybe maybe he's thinking why'd you get such a small chair!

Oh my goodness, that is too funny! Your dog is adorable! Is he a Great Dane? I love those!

Yes...He is a Great Dane (or EXCELLENT Dane as my one son calls him). The chair is not that small...he is THAT big!

Funny one Ginny!!! After that shot, he tried to curl up on it...then just gave up. Hee.

hahaha! It's the perfect height.

What a gorgeous transformation.

I've always wanted a Great Dane and instead have a 9 lb Poodle, lol.

Linda! I love it! Love your baby, he is so cute.

Love that $5 chair too. Looks great in your LR. Are the cushions from that old white couch you didn't know what to do with? Great way to re-use & re-purpose!

Great job on the chair Linda - you've certainly breathed new life into it!

Seeing your beautiful big boy reminded me of our beloved Pyrenean Mountain dog Anoushka - long gone but never forgotten. She would have tried to do exactly the same thing! The giant breeds have a habit of thinking they are actually a chihuahua!!

First off what a great bargain! $5!!! Second I think Nuff just claimed that chair as his!He is a cutie!! He is so cute his rear fits nice in the chair the rest of him is standing. LOL... Give him a hug for adding a smile to our day! Hmmm... maybe a treat or two wouldn't hurt too.

I came across a link to your blog on the bhg forum and I wanted to ask you what type of paint (color, semi-gloss or gloss, etc...) you used to paint your $5 wicker chair. I love it and want to acheive the same look with a similar chair I purchased.

Linda@ Lime in the Coconut said...

Hey Anon...It is a simple process. First I used a satin black spray paint (Rustoleum product, I believe) Then just lightly overspayed it in some areas with an expresso (also satin) color.

Hope that helps you!

Thank you so much for your response...that helps me out a lot!

my dane Leya does the same thing!

We'll be sitting on a park bench and she leans her bum up onto my lap so her paws can rest on the ground - boy do people laugh!

Rediscovered your Blog after not blogging myself for a while. Love reading the Florida lifestyle now that I am a resident (Space Coast Florida) for a couple of years now. Love the Rattan chair (black w Espresso) And I won't let my DH see the photos of your 'friend' trying to sit in the chair (he wants a Great Dane so bad). I want a 20lb'er!
Great Blog, I will be back!
