A little bit more… Christmas

Try as I might to have lovely natural Christmas decorations…

the kind seen in magazines…

I always end up with a conglomeration

of stuff.

Strewn stuff.

maybe festive…maybe not

In the end…this house is sooo lived in. daily.

so NOT magazine.

Things are always a bit cockeyed

IMG_8244 …Strewn.

perfect word for it

IMG_8250

used…and not always put back where they belong.

yep.

that’s us.

keeping it real, folks

My house is soooooooooo strewn right now, and not nearly in the good way that yours is! I'm finally working on fixing that, but doubt I'll end up with anything as pretty and festive and gorgeous as yours!

I am halfway across the country to attend a daughter's birth. I wonder what condition my house is in! Normally it is strewn even when I am there, and now, with Husband and two younguns at home, I am just thankful that they are remembering to eat sensible meals... I have not heard a thing about the condition of the house and am NOT going to ask!

I will be very glad to get home on Christmas eve, no matter what shape things are in. I truly appreciate these pictures. Everything looks beautiful at your house, and it is a good reminder that a lived in house has a beauty that magazines can not duplicate. Thank you.

I say...make it our own, if that means it is strewn then all the better to live in.:) I absolutely love your home. I could just move into it and feel like I belonged there.

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Merry merry to YOU!! Strewn is a good word. I seem to clean up one mess I have made and then I have another and another. It is the holiday of giving!! Messes are all part of the giving, kind of like the Ever ready bunny , the messes keep going and going and goin,Kathysue

Linda, I love your strewn style! It's lived in AND natural! This last week has seen a lot of random Christmasness creep in, which I like too.

I want to know more about your chandelier with the branches!!!! Can we get a full shot? And can I copy you???

My house is strewn with half empty bins and lots of doggie hair...does that count? And what's not magazine worthy about your place?!

Have a very Merry Christmas!

Your house is oh so magazine worthy...IT WAS in a magazine if I remember right! It's the imperfect that makes a home real anyway. Love your photographs. You captured it beautifully:)

HA! HA! AND HA AGAIN!
Strewn is putting it oh so nicely.
Let's talk...hurricane force winds.
Let's talk...aftermath cleanup.
Lost Boys do not feel the need to be CLEAN and CLUTTER FREE.
They like comfort and shoes-gloves-boots-hats-scarves in a jumbled heap somewhere close to them, wherever they are sitting in case, I suppose, of freak snowstorm in house.
Also, it's my fault too.
I have yet to put away decoration boxes. or finish addressing cards.
or putting away groceries.
you know, like that.

OH! but some see the pretty Florida stuff i posted-as soon as i walked in to weezie's cottage i was like LINDA would LOVE this!!

PS the vintage cardboard cutout santa's supposed to be laying at a libations instead of cookies drunken angle in a corner right?

Half to say...I LOVE the twigs in the chandelier. Perfect and so creative...and so very beautiful.

Strewn....that's such a great word to describe my house, too. Although the kids no longer live here, they are here all the time (which I LOVE) and so are their dogs. And then...there's my easily distracted brain. I start things, then move to something else that catches my eye. What a mess!!!

Wow...love it! A whole slew of strewnies!

The brancholier...for those who asked...was put up after a very loved key lime tree died. I was going to leave it for the season...then about 12 seasons went by. Now it is part of the family! Story of it here:
