Color….color…coloriscious…

The soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts.
~Marcus Aurelius

I may have mentioned before that I have synesthesia

a melding of the senses…of sorts.

Words and numbers and letters all have a correlating color

I remember names and places and dates… first by the color or colors

they construe in my mind

and they blend together and form other colors...to keep me on my toes.

When I was introduced to Artist Michelle Armas’s work a few months ago...

I found it compelling. Almost musical in it’s flirtation with color.

She told me that

she also has a cacophony of color swirling around in her own mind

…she too has synesthesia.

“ It is how I do simple math...green plus purple equals black!” says Michelle

makes complete sense to moi.

yep.

So…now I have a happy inducing Armas piece of work in my home.

An Armasm hee

And it has already enjoyed a few different rooms...

I imagine it will keep moving around leaving a happy little wake of color behind.

I have seen her work throughout blogland….Allison at My little Happy Place recently acquired one…

As did Jenny at MFAMB

If you are looking for a shot of color…some happy…a cacophony of thought.

and who wouldn’t...

Do you say you were having a giveaway? I'm pretty sure I heard that. At least I read it between the lines. I'm a follower so sign me up for that painting. Pretty please.

Without color I am invisible!!
It makes the design world go 'round!!!

Michelle's work is wonderful and so is your blog.
Art makes interior design work!!! I believe that the "blog art" that you and others create are changing the world...by your 'art', you educate, inspired, inform , and motivate the passion in all of us.

I might have a strange form of synesthesia. Or it might be wishful thinking! Color invades every thought I think. Your Armas is gorgeous. As is your beautiful home. The painting does look fabulous every single place you prop it. I can't wait to show mine. But, Michelle has told me my photography skills suck. :-)

Great post. I too, have synesthesia. Never thought anything about it, until one day I realized that not everyone saw days of the week in color, months of year in spatial frames! My mind's calendar is beautiful! Love my colorful world...

Very fascinating! I've heard of that before, but never known anyone with it. The mind works in such mysterious ways...

I love this art. I'm not normally into this type of painting, but I absolutely love all the colors in the paintings in her shop. And I especially love the Scwirt painting, though I'm not sure which I like more: the painting or the name Scwirt! :)

I agree, I love color. I love how you associate dates and things with color. Oddly enough, I remember things by somehow associating them to different rooms in my home. Go figure!

I just found your blog -- I love it! It's beautiful. I have synesthesia as well, connecting colors with numbers. It's just numbers though.

"Green plus purple equals black." Makes total sense!!
